tell your friends...

When I don’t answer my phone, your luckiness will hear Carl Brutananadilewski from the Aqua-Teen Hunger Force cartoons questioning the hell out of you that you might be the very best person to tell him who wrote, “The moon rule’s, No. 1,” on his car with a key. It’s frightening. You’ll likely not leave a message. That toon may be the funniest on the television, but there was a precursor sort of character on Adult Swim that goes mostly overlooked in the shadow of Carl, Meatwad, Inignod and Ir. Brak is the epitome of what Williams Street and all of the heavy watching for the entire Adult Swim lineup is all about. Aqua-Teen Hunger Force is easy to be down with: Sunset Rubdown was eating episodes up when they were here to record their session earlier in the year. If that ain’t enough proof that it’s rad to be a fan of ATHF…what is doggs? But Brak is almost the same kind of influence on those characters as George Mikan and Oscar Robertson were influences on Shaq and Dikembe Mutumbo. Without the forefathers, there are no big diesels. Brak is a combination of Meatwad, Master Shake and Carl all in one, joining the asinine one-liners of Steven Wright/Zach Galifianaskis set to twisted standards and as much archaic language and phrasing – don’t laugh – to give The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy epiphanies and such – enough to write another record. Childish humor doesn’t have to be for children as shown in the first three episodes of the second season of “The Brak Show.” Covering just 45 minutes of time we’re treated with KISS boots, froggie socks, armpit farts, a Brakologist, burning hair and shooting pigs with tanks as leisure activities, a weird Charlie Daniels floating thing, potbelly pigs, a mural of a cockfight, a guest voice from Weird Al Yankovic as Petroleum Joe, crying knees, a threat to roll someone up in a pancake (for good behavior) and fishing in 37,000-degree waters. All of a sudden thinking odd thoughts is simple. Join us for analysis of the other 11 second season episodes these next few days and feel free to quote your favorite lines in the two cents box below.
