Today is a monumental day in the land of Daytrotter. As purveyors of the most authentic and irreplaceable live recordings sessions this side of the Mississippi and Atlantic sea for that matter, we are happy to have a new friend joining in our crusade to continue doing this with the same verve and energetic passion that we’ve been known for, going on two years now. Wolfgang’s Vault is a remarkable place on the Internet, to be sure, a place where live music lives as they say in their brochures. It is the home of the life’s recording and memorabilia collection of the great and inspiring Bill Graham as well as well as the King Biscuit Flower Hour and other essential collections of live recordings from the influential 1960s and 1970s – when it all started. They house an archive of gorgeous concert recordings from the likes of The Band, Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Ramones and many more of the pillars of rock and roll history. These recordings are made available to listen to in their entirety at no cost. They, like we here at Daytrotter, believe in the special power of a band in the live setting, when the impossible seems reasonable and escapism is tingly and expected. It is where everything is laid out on the floor and the true meaning of soul and spirit gets highlighted. We’re thrilled to begin working with those at Wolfgang’s to continue on our mission to help these incredible artists of the current landscape – those you know about and those who we think you should – showcase their art ever more broadly and into enough ears that they can do more than just get by. We’ve got a number of exciting plans in the beginning stages that are going to allow us to double and triple the amount of exclusive content that you faithful readers and listeners have come to expect from us. We thank you kindly for being here and for hearting us. Don’t expect anything to change here. We wouldn’t do that. Just expect to see more of us and expect some pleasant surprises. Onward and upward…

What we’d like you to enjoy today is a free download from the Vault, taken from The Ramones’ January 7, 1978 concert at New York’s Palladium. The song, “Oh Oh I Love Her So” is a symbolic song in the legendary band’s arsenal as it is all things for them – the unrequited love, the temper, temper speediness of it, the roar, the flames, the alacrity, the whoosh of its coming and going and the signature melodies that the entire genre of punk rock benefited from in these integral years.
