Obscenities and more blasted obscenities are all that can be used to contemplate and stew over the injustice that befell one of our favorite songbirds and the sweetest person you’d ever have the sheer privilege of meeting. Casey Dienel, who’s written a song (exclusively featured in the session you’ll find linked below) about everything being better in Manhattan, was gutted by the city this past weekend. Her new band, White Hinterland, had its van pilfered by soulless hooligans who even made off with an air mattress. Surprisingly, the slightly used chewing gum they left untouched. The band is asking for any help in rounding up their beloved and now frightfully scared and missing instruments. It’s an important task as Dienel – who spends her days quaintly making and selling pastries and coffees and homemade soups, or something very close to this; who speaks and writes eloquently as if she herself is a deep read, a novel whose spine reclines open at the middle, flashing its massive importance and bulkiness; who would make sure that local birds always had seed, a clean birdbath and a song; who would give and never let up – is about to release an epic and masterful new record that sees her exploring all of the blackest reaches a mind can go to – in her own way. She must have those instruments back. She must tour. It’s for OUR own good.

Note and a list of missing equipment:
We have the full list of what was stolen, as well as info on where donations to White Hinterland can be sent. If you happen to spot any of this in second hand shops, or see anything suspicious, please get in touch with us at info@deadoceans.com. This theft is costing the band thousands of dollars, so any contributions you can offer will be a giant help.
