Dragons of Zynth Give Us The Highlights Of South By Southwest, In Their Eyes: “The Getting some QT with musicians we admire was the brightest highlight of SXSW. My bro and I were grabbing ribs at Stubbs and stumbled upon Tony Allen and Paul Simonon at the bar. We had a chance to pay some respects. We dropped some DOZ love on them with a couple copies our of newest/latest. Truly inspirational. Meeting two legends…over ribs…priceless. We snuck upstairs after our gig to catch a 10-minute rock symphony by the Perry Farrell-Slash-the Rage-MC5-Machine. We see bands try to attempt the ‘cigarette while playing’ thing but no one can touch the Slash. Just minutes before our showcase, Aku literally caught a Dragon Fly in his mouth!!! Mysterious yes. Even wierder that he kept it. Lowlights. The only two tickets we got on our trip to Austin were in NYC. Day leaving NYC and the day we got back. Aside from that no stolen equipment or technical disasters.”

We were supposed to be recording Willie Nelson’s best friend and country music legend Johnny Bush during this time slot on Friday, March 16 th, but bottoms fall out sometimes and what a replacement we were happy to get. They came, smoked some weed, gave us an autographed tambourine and a spray-painted T-shirt that still stanks like poison. It will be worn some day, proudly. We think that this is the most explosively incredible and life-affirming band we recorded duringst our short stay in Texas. – Sean Moeller

Ahhh, the oldest profession in the world! It seems that with all the politicians getting scorched in D.C. this topic is still decent fodder for the masses. This is the first Dragons track ever written and it’s our baby. No puns included.

Second song
Get Off (Dragons of Zynth) [3.49MB] [1286 downloads]

– unreleased
This track we originally recorded in Bristol with the boyz Massive. We hit Massive Attack’s studio for a week to mess around, drink too much cider and watch German psych-thrillers. We swapped ideas on their songs and they got into this one and were psyched to have us put it down. The song you hear is actually arranged from the reverse of the song. Make sense? We are into tweaking and this one has tidal waves of hidden tweaks and swells.

Third song/Fourth song
War Lover/Who Rize Above (Dragons of Zynth) [10.18MB] [1408 downloads]

War Lover
We were pleased to lay this one down live. It has taken some time to really get right. The song is spoken through the eyes of an amputee, a motherless soldier, a fatherless child, anyone who has a pit of silence running through their veins in response to the inexplicable horrors the U.S. government has put us through. This is our call to arm the voices of the millions of kids who feel left out in the war-dialogue. The youth who can only eat pizza, skateboard and watch falsified war intelligence on the news.

Who Rize Above
In a similar vein, this cut is when we let loose. Oftentimes, girls get their glasses broken and soar elbows when we play this one. Guys often get frat-tastic and mega-mosh with us in the middle of the floor with Janinthia our patron dragon saint. The rhythms in “Who Rize” are straight from Ghana! So if you like to jump high in the air and scream, stand close the stage when we throw down.
