Still to this day, the two days we spent with Spencer Krug, the Sunset Rubdown crew and Frog Eyes posse marked the start of the beginning for Daytrotter. Not only were we overjoyed that the Canadian powers were in our studio, but we learned of Swan Lake for the first time, heard that they’d likely never, ever play a live show, and saw the incredible talent of Krug on full display. When we ran into guitarist Jordan Robson in Austin, he came up and said, “I slept on your floor!” He also mentioned that Daytrotter “ruined” “Wicked/Winged Things,” a new song recorded here for the first time, for the new album Random Spirit Lover (out in October) because they couldn’t bring themselves to record it any differently than they did here. Color us proud by listening.
