Carey Mercer and Mel Campbell have the kindest and most well-behaved dog in the world. There’s no competition. We met Suki a year ago and think of him often — having had him as a bedfellow on our floor for two enjoyable nights as Frog Eyes and Sunset Rubdown kicked it in Iowa before trekking off to Minneapolis. We also think about how Mercer and his jittery lustre are criminally overlooked. He continues to work as a stupidly terrific, mindblowing lyricist, see this year’s Tears of the Valedictorian, of which the band debuted a number of songs here with us .
